PASSAGE:
Isaiah 63:1-19
COMMENT:
The day of God’s wrath has come and the
Lord is coming in vengeance. However, the prophet reminds the Lord of
past mercies on His people while he repents of their past sins. He asks
the Lord to look down from His holy habitation and reclaim the
Israelites as His own.
WHAT
DOES IT SAY?
1.
The day of ___________ is in God’s heart and the year
of His ____________ is come.

For he said, Surely they are my _________, children
that will not _____.

But they rebelled and ___________ his holy _________.

Look down from heaven, and behold from the

WHAT
DOES IT MEAN?
1.
Isaiah 63:1-3 states that the Lord is red in His
apparel when He comes. Study the passage and tell why His
apparel is red. How does this compare with Revelation
19:13-15?

In verse 12, the Lord led the Israelites by the hand
of Moses. Why does this verse say He did it? In verse 14,
the Lord led His people. Why does this verse say He led
them? What do these verses show us about the workings of God
in our lives? How does this compare with Ephesians 1:12?

Verse 17 states, “O LORD, why hast thou made us to
err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear?”
What does this mean? How should we understand this verse?
How does is compare with Isaiah 6:10 and John 12:40?
WHAT
DOES IT MEAN TO ME?
1.
In verse 7, Isaiah says, “I will mention the
lovingkindnesses of the LORD.” What are lovingkindnesses?
Why does he mention them at this time in the chapter? What
can we learn from this? When and why should we mention the
lovingkindnesses of the Lord?
2.
Of the time when the children of Israel wandered in
the wilderness, verse 9 states, “In all their affliction he
was afflicted.” What is the meaning of this statement? See
Judges 10:16; Hebrews 2:18; 4:15. What are some modern and
personal applications that we can make from this truth?
