Psalm 78:40-41

INTRODUCTION: God is all powerful, but His children seem so weak. Why?

 

We limit God

 

  1. By our sinfulness

 

    1. Sin separates from God (Isaiah 59:1-2; Jeremiah 5:25)
    1. God searches for men (Jeremiah 5:1; Ezekiel 22:30)
    1. God wants a clean vessel (2 Timothy 2:20-21)

 

  1. By our faithlessness

 

    1. No faith; no mighty works (Matthew 13:58; 17:14-20)
    1. The faithfulness of Moses (Hebrews 3:5)
    1. The blessings of faithfulness (Matthew 24:42-47)

 

  1. By our prayerlessness

 

    1. Because ye ask not (James 4:1-2)
    1. The sin of ceasing to pray (1 Samuel 12:23-24)
    1. The power of fervent prayer (James 5:16-18)

 

  1. By our willfulness (Rebellion)

 

    1. God would; but we will not (Matthew 23:37)
    1. The example of Christ (Mark 14:36; Philippians 2:5-8)
