Doctrine of God 0002 - Lesson 5

The first part of this course begins with a brief review of the Approach of Scripture.  The outline is found in Doctrine of God 0001, Lesson 3, III. THE EXISTENCE OF GOD.  Next there is a review of the Attributes of God: His greatness and His goodness.  Please refer back to the outline beginning with VI.  THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD beginning in Doctrine of God 0002, Lesson 2, in the second half and going through Doctrine of God 0002, Lesson 4.
  1. THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD (Continued)
    1. His Goodness (Continued)
      1. Holiness (Continued)
        1. Attributes connected to the holiness of God
          1. Righteousness
            1. Meaning: God always does what is right.
            2. God is not controlled by a standard of righteousness higher than Himself. What He is and what He does is righteousness (Genesis 18:25; Psalm 50:6; Psalm 92:15; Daniel 9:14)
          2. Justice
            1. Meaning: Righteousness in the giving of rewards or punishment; a legal term. God as a righteous judge.
            2. The death of Christ and His suffering for the sins of others is the only solution to a guilty world. In this way only can God be both just and the justifier (Romans 3:26).
