Course Introduction
Many
Christians have a special love
for the Gospel of John and
certainly we should. This book
presents our Saviour as the
Word, the Light of the World,
the Lamb of God, the True Vine,
the Good Shepherd, and much
more. But mostly, He is our
Saviour—the one sent by the
Father to die on the cross and
offer us eternal salvation.
In John, God uses a great simplicity of
language to convey the richest treasures. Much of what God
has to say to us in John is indeed simple. But this plain
garment is wrapped around deep and wonderful truths. To say
“grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17) sounds
simple, but what a world of goodness lies behind this
statement. This is only one of many statements that will be
studied in depth in this course.
This course on John is not a Sunday
School lesson; it is an in-depth look at the wonders of what
God has in this book. This study of John covers most of the
major Bible doctrines and many of the subjects that we must
deal with in this life. Through it all, the Father and the
Son are glorified and you learn to understand to some extent
that glory.
One pastor who took the class locally
said that he almost did not take it since he already felt
comfortable with the Book of John. After a few weeks, he
said that he was glad he took it because there is so much
more to the book than he ever thought. This could be your
experience as well. Why not begin this course and see what
the Lord will open up for you?
