1. The Importance of Preservation As a Work of God
   
   
   1. He Preserves All Creation (Nehemiah 9:6)
   2. He Preserves Jerusalem and the Jewish People (Isaiah 31:5)
   3. He Preserves the Saints (2 Timothy 4:18, Jude 1, 1 Thessalonians 5:23)
   4. He Preserves His Word (Psalm 12:6-7)
      
      Consider Ecclesiastes 3:14. Scripture is no less a work of God than Creation or a Redeemed Soul. He will preserve His Word as well.
      
      
2. The Place of Preservation in the Transmission of God's Word
   
   The Problem: God is so high (Isaiah 55:8-9) and man is so low (Psalm 14:1-3). How can the words of truth come from God all the way down to us?
   
   Four Great Doctrines: Revelation, Inspiration, Preservation, Illumination
   
   
   1. Revelation (Deuteronomy 29:29, Amos 3:7, Hebrews 1:1)
      
      
   2. Inspiration (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
      
      
   3. Preservation (Psalm 12:6-7)
      
      
   4. Illumination (1 Corinthians 2:12-14)
      
      
3. The Need for Preservation Because of Man's Corruption
   
   
   1. Corrupted Commands
      
      
      1. The pure words of God (Genesis 2:16-17)
      2. The corrupted words (Genesis 3:1-5)
         
         
   2. Corrupted Truth (Romans 1:25 KJV, NIV, NKJV)
      
      
   3. Corrupted Words (2 Corinthians 2:17, 2 Corinthians 4:2, 2 Peter 3:15-16)
      
      
   4. Corrupted Doctrines (2 Corinthians 11:4, Galatians 1:6-9, 1 Peter 1:25)
