The Judgment of Eli's House

 

 

Text: 1Samuel 3:11-14

 

INTRODUCTION – Aaron, the first high priest, had four sons:

                                    Nadab, Abihu, Eleazer, Ithamar(Eli)

 

I.                     The Purpose of Judgment  (Romans 2:2-6)

 

A.                The Sin  (1 Samuel 1:3; 2:12-17, 22-25)

 

B.                Eli’s Responsibility  (1 Samuel 2:29; 3:13)

 

II.                   The Promise of Judgment  (Numbers 32:23)

 

A.                God’s Repentance  (1 Samuel 2:27-30)

 

B.                Eli’s Rejection  (1 Samuel 2:31-34)

 

C.                Eli’s Replacement  (1 Samuel 2:35-36)

 

III.                  The Power of Judgment  (Galatians 6:7)

 

A.                1st Generation – Eli  (1 Samuel 4:18)

 

B.                2nd Generation – Hopni and Phinehas  (1 Samuel 4:10-18)

 

C.                3rd  Generation – Ichabod  [brother to Ahitub] (1 Samuel 4:19-22)

 

D.                4th Generation – Ahimelech (Ahiah)  (1 Samuel 14:3; 22:9-19)

 

E.                5th Generation – Abiathar  (1 Samuel 22:20-23; 2 Samuel 20:25; 1 Kings 2:26-27)

FINAL JUDGMENT:

 

Rebellion                  1 Kings 1:5-7

 

Removal                   1 Kings 2:26,27

 

Replacement            1 Kings 2:35

 

 

CONCLUSION – God Judges Sin !!!
