To Claim the Victory
Text: Joshua
1:1-9
INTRODUCTION – What
were the children of Israel required to do in order to conquer
the land of Canaan.
A. Remember
Where God Found You (Psalm 40:1-2;
Isaiah 51:1)
B. Remember
How God Delivered You (Deuteronomy
8:11-16; Psalm 105:5)
C. Remember
Where God Brought you (Deuteronomy
6:10-12; 8:18; Psalm
103:1-2)
II. Forget
(v.11) (Deuteronomy
1:6-8; 2:2-3; Joshua
1:10-11; Philippians 3:13-14)
A. Do
Not Be Hindered By Past Failures (2Corinthians 5:17)
B. Do
Not Be Satisfied By Past Successes (Ecclesiastes 7:10)
It’s
not as good as we imagine. We often backslide at mountain
peaks because we hold on too tightly to the past.
III. Forge
Ahead (Joshua 3:1-6; 14-17;
Philippians 3:13-14)
A. Follow
The Way of The Lord (v.4; Proverbs
3:5-6)
“Ye
have not passed this way heretofore” - that is why we need the
way of the Lord
B. Sanctify
Yourselves Unto the Lord (v.5;
Romans 12:1-2)
C. Expect
Great Things From the Lord (v.5;
Jeremiah 33:3)
“Attempt
great things for God, Expect great things from God.” (William
Carey)
