Caleb the Dedicated

 

Text:  Number 13:30

 

AIM: To stress the supreme importance and urgency of total dedication.

 

I.                     He had confidence In God (Numbers 13:30)

 

A.     He was ready to go

B.     He was ready to possess- (some go but are not ready to possess) – visitation

C.     He believed the victory was as good as won –(some are defeated before they go) – prayer

 

II.                   He had another spirit. (Numbers 14:24)

 

A.     State of mind: attitude – it was God ward (John 3:30) theirs was self ward

B.     Loyalty – His was to God. (Example, school spirit; 1 Corinthians 9:27)  Theirs was to self

C.     Holy Spirit- He relied on the Spirit of God. They relied on their own judgment.

 

III.                  He wholly followed the LORD. (Numbers 14:24, Joshua 14:8,14)

 

A.     Full surrender – Give God everything. (Matthew 5: 25-34) – Trust God in everything

B.     Separation – Depart from all evil. (2 Corinthians6: 14-17)

C.     Dedication- Do everything through Christ. (Galatians2:20)

 

IV.                He was faithful in trusting God. (1 Corinthians 4:2)

 

A.     He believed His Life had a purpose. (Joshua 14:10)

B.     He claimed God’s promise. (Joshua 14:12)

 

V.                  The result. (Joshua 14:13-14)

 

A.     Caleb Received His inheritance.

B.     His children received his inheritance. (Your dedication will affect others.)

 

THE CHALLENGE: (Joshua 24:14-15)

 

  • Serve God

  • Do it today (verse 15) – (Romans 13:11,12)
