The Fear of Growing Old - Psalm 71:18

Many people suffer from gerascophobia or the fear of growing old. Perhaps ultimately it is a fear of death, but other conditions exist in old age that cause people to fret. One of these concerns was expressed by the penman of Psalm 71. On two different occasions he requested that the Lord would not forsake him when he was old and grayheaded (Psalm 71:9, 18). The Lord knew the fears of man and promised, "even to your old age . . . and even to the hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you" (Isaiah 46:4). Growing old is a blessing, in fact, it is one of the greatest blessings the Jewish people will experience in the kingdom (Zechariah 8:4).

The Time of Vengeance - Proverbs 6:34

Vengeance is not always executed in a swift manner (Ecclesiastes 8:11). In fact, believers often grow weary because the wicked seem to prosper in spite of their evil deeds. Yet, the Lord will execute vengeance in His time. The Bible speaks often of a day of vengeance that is coming in the future. This day is very likely a thousand year period (2 Peter 3:8) which will begin shortly before the second coming of the Lord and will end at the great white throne judgment after the end of the millennial kingdom. It will be a time when the Lord will refuse to spare the wicked (Proverbs 6:34), but will set things right for the Jewish people (Isaiah 34:8; Isaiah 61:2; Isaiah 63:4).

Doctrine of God 0004 - Lesson 5

The doctrine of God is the key to understanding all other Bible truth. The knowledge of God is the key to salvation, to sanctification, and to service. Without God, there is nothing else. Without the truth of God, there is no other truth. Without knowing God, we have no real knowledge of anything else. We must give ourselves to a greater understanding of this great doctrine.

The Rescue of Lot

Though Lot is a righteous man in his personal life (2 Peter 2:7-8), he runs with the wrong crowd (Genesis 13:12-13). Abram rescues his nephew but he keeps a good distance from the king and goods of Sodom. We should do the same.

The Tower of Babel

The tower of Babel is the sight of man’s first and (to date) only one world government. Man has dreamed of renewing a universal government since that time. All the empires of the past have been attempts to establish it. He believes that if man would just stop fighting himself and unite, he could accomplish anything and would no longer need God. God has therefore allowed divisions in language, geography, culture, etc., to keep man from uniting as one. Bible prophecy tells of a time when man will have his one world government and will use it to fight God and God’s people, the Jews. This is the time of the tribulation.

The Week of Creation

INTRODUCTION: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” is the basis of all we are and all we believe. Since we came from God, He is the only source for the truth about ourselves and about the purpose of life. We came from God. In order to have eternal life and a reason for living, we must return to God.
