Solomon had the opportunity that many would love to have. He could ask anything that he wanted of God. Solomon's request tells us much of him.
David’s final charge to Solomon consists of faithfulness to the commandments, judgments, and testimonies of the Lord
Adonijah desires to usurp the throne of David, but the throne was to be Solomon's. Adonijah received news that Solomon had been anointed and he ran for his life.
David is in charge. As such, it is a day of forgiveness and mercy (Shimei and Mephibosheth). It is a day of grace and blessing (Barzillai and Chimham).
2 Samuel 17:14 stated that the Lord intended to bring evil upon Absalom and it comes to pass in this chapter. The proud one is caught by his head in an oak tree and is killed by Joab’s young armor bearers.
Abner had killed Joab’s brother, Asahel, in battle. Joab cannot wait for the Lord but must exact his own vengeance.
Samuel, the gift of God to a praying mother, ministered in his early years. God worked in his life and used him mightily.
