The message of Haggai, chapter two, is a message of coming glory (see Haggai 2:3, 7, 9; compare 1:8). The importance of the message is shown in the time in which it was given.
Haman has been destroyed and the Jews have been delivered. That which was the cause for great sorrow has become an occasion of great gladness. This working of God in things that are thought of as chance must be celebrated. We must remember what kind of a God we have.
The <em>dayspring</em> is the spring of the day; that is, the morning. This passage reveals some of the scientific details about this phenomenon. However, the dayspring is also a type of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the only other place in the Bible where the word occurs – Luke 1:78.
The Bible refers to the enlarging of something 26 times. To enlarge simply means to make larger. Yet, as with so many Bible words, it has many blessings in the use God makes of the word.
Picture in your mind as you look from left to right a shadow, an image and a sun. This may not mean much to you but in this very picture is the scope of God's dealings with man through the ages.
