Defying Impossible Odds
Samson’s life is a riddle—much like the riddle that he tells to his companions. In the end, Samson’s strength is destroyed by his lust after the so-called sweet things of the flesh.
In this lesson, we learn from Jonathan’s faith in God and his bravery in battle. We also learn from Saul’s fearfulness and his foolishness in making an unreasonable oath.
God shows us through Samson's fleshly nature that revenge solves nothing, and can create a vicious cycle of vengeance.
Samson gambles with unscrupulous characters using a riddle. The result is violence and animosity that will follow Samson his entire life.
