I am a born again believer and I can't put my cigarette smoking habit away. How do I overcome this? I will not take the pain and deny my flesh for too long, and it really discourages me. I worry because I am hurting my testimony and the entire body of Christ by my actions.

Our ladies are doing a book study and the other day the book stated that the great cloud of witnesses were watching us. I disagreed. The believers of the past that have died don't watch us --just inspire us to stand firm in our faith, right? I need scripture references if anyone other than God watches us from heaven.

I had read that when they were performed, they didn't remove all the sin, but allowed the individual to at least have communion with God. I read this in a commentary section in the Spirit Filled Life Bible,but cannot find it in the scripture that I read.
