Can we interpret John 21 better by knowing the Greek words agape and Phileo?  It seems that Peter replies to Jesus twice that he "affectionately loves" Him, after He asks Peter twice if he loves Him--(in the sense of duty and of the will). Then, Jesus uses Peter's own word for love the third time: "Do you Peter love me affectionately?".  That's a big part it seems why Peter was so grieved. Now, isn't it fair to say that you could never know this with the English? Is it possible that the scholars are lying to us about the Greek? Or, is it possible that the Greek manuscripts are in error? Or, not legitimate? I just don't know.
Why is there such a recent surge in the popularity of movies and TV shows dealing with "messages from the dead?" Why is the practice of consulting with psychics, such as Sylvia Brown or John Edwards (who claim to talk to the dead and consult spirit guides) becoming spiritually acceptable to so many?
I became a believer because of the fear of failure. I had failed in certain important exams throughout life.  I am now an intern lay pastor working.  I need to write exams to be promoted at the office.  I realize that I wont have time to concentrate on my studies because I am now in charge of a Church.  I sincerely need your advice on what to do?
Do you have any studies on drug use that is illegal? So many teens are using drugs, some say they are herbs and that it is alright. I think this is more than one question, but I have tried to find something to help them understand it is wrong. Thanks
My first question concerns the epistles of Timothy and Titus. Why is it that these are called, pastoral epistles? Seeing that the only church authority and responsibility that Paul discusses are the eldership positions of the Bishop and Deacon. Paul never writes or speaks using the word pastor. So I have never been able to find a link between the eldership roles and that of pastor.
