God’s word contains many divine patterns. They demonstrate the hand of God. Some themes, such as blood redemption and the kingdom of God, run the length of scripture. God often uses patterns of objects, colors, words and events to demonstrate His handiwork. Only God could bring together 66 books written by 40 human authors over 1600 years into such perfect unity.
God is a God of order. He is also a God who divides. Even on the first day of creation, He divided the light from the darkness. And, He expects His servants to rightly divide His word (2Timothy 2:15).
Among the many things Christ is compared to in the holy scripture, to set forth his transcendent excellency, beauty, usefulness, and perfections, this of a Fountain is none of the least, it being a most profitable metaphor.
Now let us consider what is most properly called Spirit baptism. The Bible does not talk as much about this one. However, it is a Bible doctrine. At the point of salvation the Holy Spirit places us into Jesus Christ. When a soul trusts in Christ and is saved, he or she is “in Christ.”
What kind of meat are you working for? The multitude followed Jesus across the Sea of Galilee when they saw that He could feed them. They wanted to know what they needed to do in order to keep getting bread. What is your bread? Or meat? Is it to know God and to do His will?
