All Inhabitants Are Reputed as Nothing (Daniel 4:35)

Introductory Thoughts

Nations are vulnerable and oblivious to their vulnerabilities! At any moment, the Lord could raise up a new nation or destroy one that currently exists. Military might, a sound economy, a good job market, and great leadership will offer no resistance once the Lord has set His mind against any nation. According to Daniel 4:35, “all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he [the Lord] doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?” The Lord does whatsoever pleases Him (Psalm 135:6). At any point, He could lead “princes away spoiled” or overthrow “the mighty” (Job 12:19). Simply put—do not put your trust in any man.

Devotional Thoughts

  • (For children):Our God is in the heavens. Even though He is in the heavens, He rules the earth as He so desires (Job 12:23; Psalm 115:3; Isaiah 40:17-18, 22-25; Isaiah 46:9-10).
  • (For everyone): How much faith do you put in the security offered to you by the nation in which you live? Because of the current strength of your nation, do you fail to fully trust the Lord?
  • Read Proverbs 21:1 and 1 Chronicles 29:12. How do these verses demonstrate the power that God has over the nation in which you live? What could God do to your country before you wake up tomorrow morning?

Prayer Thoughts

  • Beg God for the life of your country.
  • Ask the Lord to strengthen your faith in Him alone.
