Teach Others (2 Timothy 2:2)

Introductory Thoughts

Those with their ear toward the world have many accessible teachers. Unfortunately, far too frequently, that which is being taught contradicts the plain teaching of scripture. In order to combat the propagation of false teaching, the Lord calls upon His people to teach the truth. God placed men within the New Testament church to spread the truth through teaching and preaching (Acts 13:1). He placed older men and women in the church in order to teach the younger men and women (Titus 2:1-8). He placed godly moms and dads in the home to teach the children. Every believer should have a desire to come to a point where he or she can teach others. According to the scriptures, this is the will of God (Hebrews 5:12).

Devotional Thoughts

  • (For children): When Aquila (a tentmaker) and his wife Priscilla heard Apollos speak in the synagogue, they realized he needed further instruction and taught him the way of God more perfectly. Apollos was willing to learn and changed his message to align it with the truth that he now knew. God wants us to know His word and be able to teach others (Acts 18:24-26).
  • (For everyone): What are some sources of education for todays youth? Are those sources generally teaching the truth or mixing some falsehoods with the truth? What are you doing to ensure that young people know the truth?
  • Those who do not believe in God or His word understand the importance of education. This is why they have systematically taken control of the schools and universities. What efforts are you making to teach people the Bible?

Prayer Thoughts

  • Ask God to give you people who are hungry to learn the truth.
  • Ask the Lord to help you to be biblical in your teaching.
