This psalm gives a graphic picture of the suffering King. It is likely that David initially spoke/penned these words to describe a personal affliction. Yet, the Lord gave him the words in such a way that it would be a prophetic explanation of the physical and spiritual sufferings that would be endured by the Son of God.
Salt is necessary for life, but too much salt kills. Jesus used salt as a picture of how a small minority in the world accomplishes a great deal of good and what happens when that salt loses its saltiness.
The untamed tongue is a special problem with the people of God. Yet, it is a sin that often goes unacknowledged. It is the saint’s dirty little secret and it is almost universal.
God’s special display of power is reserved for special times of need. God rarely shows Himself when He is not sought. His habit is to perform His miracles in the face of the impossible. Sometimes, the situation needs to get to the impossible before He will work in power and great glory.
