This is the “Charity Chapter” in the Bible. Charity specifically refers to the love that we have toward other men.
Prayer is one of the most needful and least exercised benefits that we have as believers. It is no wonder individuals, homes, and churches are not experiencing the power of God. We are not even asking for it.
Many of our prayers are carnal and selfish. Paul’s prayers held some spiritual meat and were directed towards spiritual blessings for other believers. Perhaps we would do well to return to spiritual prayer.
John is writing to the “elect lady” who has seemingly erred on the side of love and needs to give more heed to the truth.
What are you doing with the times in which God has allowed you to live? The Bible says that David served his generation well, but what would be said of you?
How should we love our brethren? Like the Son loves us and like the Father loves the Son.
One revival or restoration is never enough for the people of God. God’s people follow the natural lines of spiritual degeneration. They will naturally slide backwards toward the ways of the world. They require periodic revivals in order to remain close to the Lord. When the revivals cease, the people will fall further and further away from the Lord.
