Ambassadors for Christ

Introduction:  Imagine for a moment that the President of the United States of America called you to the White House and said, “I need you to represent the United States of America as an ambassador”.  What an honour!  As he gives you the list of responsibilities, you begin to think of them as a small price to pay to be an ambassador of the United States of America.  Though you will probably never receive that call, you have already received one much greater and that is the call to be an ambassador for Christ.

  3. THE REPRESENTATION OF THE AMBASSADOR
    1. The Ambassador Should Represent the Leader From His Own Country
    2. Christ as the Ambassador of the Father was a Perfect Representation of the Father (John 14:9)
    3. We Ought to Represent or Manifest the King of Our Country
      1. We are to love as He loved (John 13:34-35)
      2. We are to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:13-16)
      3. We are to serve as He served (John 13:12-17)
  4. THE WORK OF THE AMBASSADOR
    1. To Offer Peace
      1. Enmity from Heaven (Psalm 7:11; Romans 8:6-7; James 4:4)
      2. Reconciliation available (Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:20)
    2. To Offer Trade (2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:9)
      1. Your sin
      2. Christs righteousness
    3. To Offer Assistance
      1. To those who are in bondage among their own countrymen
      2. To those who are citizens of the country of the ambassador
  5. THE ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE AMBASSADOR
    1. The Ambassador is Accountable to His Own Country
    2. The Ambassador is Responsible to the Country of His Service
    3. We Will Stand Before Christ to Give Account of Our Service (2 Corinthians 5:10)
    4. As Ambassadors We are Debtors to this World (Romans 1:14)

Conclusion:  What kind of an ambassador have you been up to this point?  How will you fair when it is time to give an account to the one who commissioned you as an ambassador?
