The Full Gospel

INTRODUCTION:  There are churches today that label themselves as a full gospel church.  They claim that because they practice the sign gifts that they are full gospel.  Well the full gospel mentioned in the Bible has three parts to it.  It mentions nothing of speaking in tongues or falling out in the spirit.  It has to do with the death, burial and resurrection.

  1. The Emphasis of the Gospel (According to the scriptures)
    1. How that Christ died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3)
    2. That He rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:4)
  2. God Works in Threes (God uses threes for completeness)
    1. The Trinity- God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost
    2. Three Heavens
    3. Man- Body, Soul, Spirit
    4. Time- Past, present, future
    5. Space- Height, length, breadth
    6. Harvest- Firstfruits, Harvest, Gleanings
    7. The Gospel- Death, burial, resurrection
      1. If the gospel had ended after the cross, then it would have been a work of unity (Christ unifying himself with man)
      2. If the gospel had ended after the burial, then it would have been a work of division (Separation between God the Father and God the Son)
      3. With the gospel ending after the Resurrection we have a complete work.
  3. The Death
    1. Body
      1. He Bore our Sins in His Body (1 Peter 2:24)
      2. He Became Sin (2 Corinthians 5:21)
      3. He Became a Curse (Galatians 3:13)
      4. He Abolished the Enmity (Ephesians 2:15-16)
      5. He Brought Peace (Colossians 1:20)
      6. Made an Offering For Sins (Hebrews 10:10)
      7. Condemned Sin (Romans 8:3)
      8. He was Buried in a Grave
    2. Soul
      1. Made an Offering For Sins (Isaiah 53:10)
      2. Poured out unto Death (Isaiah 53:12)
      3. Was Exceeding Sorrowful (Matthew 26:38)
      4. Went to Hell and Preached to Disobedient Spirits (1 Peter 3:19-20; Jude 6)
      5. Was Not left in Hell (Acts 2:27)
      6. Went to Paradise to Bring Captivity Captive (Ephesians 4:8)
    3. Spirit
      1. Gave up the Ghost to return to the Father (Luke 23:46)
      2. Everyones spirit returns to God at the point of Death (Ecclesiastes 3:21; Ecclesiastes 12:7)
  4. Burial

    5. A Guarded Tomb (Matthew 27:66)
  5. The Resurrection
    1. Declared to be the Son of God (Romans 1:4)
    2. Justified us in the sight of God (Romans 4:25; Romans 5:9)
    3. Loosed the pains of Death (Acts 2:23-24)
    4. Gives us Access to the Father (Ephesians 1:20)
    5. Gives us an Inheritance (1 Peter 1:3-4)

CONCLUSION: The gospel is the “good news” of what Christ has done for us.  Our religion is not a do religion; rather it is a done religion.  However, considering what Christ hath done for us, what manner of man ought we to be?  Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world (Galatians 1:4).  What are you living for?  Many will leave here today and go on about your life and forget what you have heard, but I dare say that if you have Christ as your Saviour you cannot help but rejoice in what He has done for you.
