The Greatness of Our God

Introduction:  The distance between man and God is great.  This is partly based on the greatness of God, but the distance is magnified even more by the lowliness of man.  Knowledge of this great gulf is not meant to discourage man, it is meant give man an idea of the greatness and holiness of God.  We cannot comprehend this greatness by ourselves, but the scriptures give us some comparative statements that will leave us in awe.

    1. The Greatness of His Size (1 Kings 8:27; Isaiah 40:22; Isaiah 57:15)
    2. The Greatness of His Throne (Psalms 11:4)
    3. The Greatness of His Footstool (Isaiah 66:1)
    4. The Greatness of the Dust of His Feet (Nahum 1:3)
    5. The Greatness of His Arm (Psalms 89:13; Psalms 77:15-19)
    6. The Greatness of His Hand (Isaiah 40:12)
    7. The Greatness of His Voice (Job 40:9; Psalms 104:7-9; Jeremiah 10:13; Ezekiel 43:2; Revelation 1:15)
    1. The Lowliness of Nations (Isaiah 40:17)
    2. The Lowliness of All Inhabitants of the Earth (Isaiah 40:22)
    3. The Lowliness of Man (Genesis 18:27; Job 4:19; Job 25:6)
    1. Gods Heart is Set on Man (Job 7:17)
    2. God is Mindful of Man (Psalm 8:4)
    3. God is Willing to Help Man (Isaiah 41:14)
    4. Man Can Draw the Attention of the Almighty (Isaiah 66:1-2)

Conclusion:  What would a man do if one of the greatest of dignitaries took notice of him and cared for him deeply?  This man would give of himself in a great way to ensure the dignitary of his great choice.  How much more should we be concerned for the favor of God, seeing He is the highest of all?
