Many who accept or reject the sovereignty of God do so based upon a faulty understanding of the word and of the doctrine. The common assumption is that God’s sovereignty means He is irresistible and without limitations in the scope of His power or practice in the affairs of men. But, is this what sovereignty means?
The loss of a child is devastating! It goes against all of our expectations as parents. A child should be allowed the opportunities of life that we have enjoyed. Parents should never outlive their child! Yet, even in this time of tragic loss, the grace of God is evident and offers comfort to those willing to receive it.
The Word of God is prepared by the Almighty, a fit means to break in pieces the stony, and rocky hearts of sinners.
Ecclesiastes declares the absolute vanity of all things under the sun. Biblical vanity does not refer to an excessive care on good looks. Biblical vanity is emptiness or worthlessness.
How, and in what respects Christ may be called a Lamb?
What would our life be like if nothing existed beyond the world we see? What if all we had was under the sun? How would this change our life, our hopes, our dreams?
What are the things that are most important to you? Judge them by the vanity factor. Do they satisfy? Will they last? How does God view them?
