What would you do if I told you that there was someone that lived really close to you that was out to get your family? It’s not necessarily going to be an obvious attack but maybe a subtil one. It might even be so subtil that you may sit there and watch it happen and not even know that there has been an attack. Now, what would you do if I told you that most of the time the thing that is going to harm you may already be in your home? Tonight we want to take a look into the word of God at something that God hates but most Christians live with.
If truth and error are mixed, the result is a false religion. This is the story of the birth of the false religion of Dan.
Not a message about one person like Gideon, but about a condition of this life. It is called despair meaning all hope is gone. The Lord has left us on our own. Throughout scripture, God gives us examples of those who seemed to be left by the Lord and thought they had been deserted by Him but later found that He hadn't left them at all.
By looking at the names of the Lord in the scriptures, we can see some of His different attributes. God gives Himself these names so that we may learn a little more of who He is and so that our faith may be increased to trust in Him. Are you trusting in the LORD JEHOVAH?
God had promised the Israelites that He had reserved a land of milk and honey for them (Exodus 3:8; Exodus 13:5; Leviticus 20:24). He had even “espied” the land Himself for them (Ezekiel 20:5-6), but they had to see for themselves (see Deuteronomy 1:22-23). They could not take God’s word that He would give them the land. They had to determine for themselves whether or not they could take it. As a result, God removed His blessings and allowed them to walk in their own counsels (Psalm 81:10-12). He let them wander for forty years in the wilderness (Ezekiel 20:13-17).<br />
