A verse by verse outline of Romans 4:1-25. The first three chapters declared all under sin. This presents the need for justification. Romans chapter four declares that justification is obtained by faith.
This passage tells of the translation of Elijah to heaven, but the real story is about Elisha. He is determined to follow his master to the end and he desires a double portion of Elijah’s blessing. We see that he gets the blessing and begins to perform some of the miracles for which he is known.
God’s will may be either absolute or conditional; this verse proves that we can disobey God’s desired will for ourselves.
What a lesson in determination! Are you fighting to conquer the mountain God has for you?
Jesus appears as the captain of the host of the Lord and gives the plan for taking Jericho. The walls fall flat and Israel wins.
